What happens if an item is damaged during the move?
5 Star Moving, Inc. provides a maximum liability on your shipment of $0.60 per pound per article, not to exceed $100 per article. 5 Star Moving, Inc. also provides coverage of up to $10,000.00 while your items are in transit; there is no charge for either coverage.

Please also note that 5 Star Moving, Inc. is not responsible for items packed and boxed by the customer and is not responsible for appliances, electronics, or other mechanical devices that are not proven to be in working condition prior to being moved. If any fragile items are to be moved, please mark the boxes clearly and bring any such items to the attention of the moving associates.

At the destination, we recommend that you check each item as it is moved. If any damage is noticed, please bring it to the attention of one of the moving associates so that a damage claim can be completed.

Do I need to be present when the movers arrive?
At the origin of your move, the moving associates will note the physical condition of each item. It is important that you be present to verify the condition of your goods since you will be asked to sign the liability release at the end of the move. You will also be asked to sign the insurance coverage statement prior to starting the move.

If I selected the guaranteed rate plan, can items be added or removed prior to starting the move?
If you have selected the guaranteed rate plan, the moving associates will match items on the invoice with the items actually being moved. If items are either added or removed from the invoice, the price of the move will be adjusted. One of our moving associates will notify you of any price changes prior to starting the move. Please note that additional items will only be added if time permits.

Can anything be moved?
Plants, pets, money, jewelry, guns, ammunitions, flammable materials, corrosive materials, and items of unusual value will not be moved. Items of unusual value are items that are worth more than $100 per pound such as fine china or jewelry.

Is there a fee if I cancel my scheduled move?
Any moves scheduled to occur between the 5th and 27th of each month require a 24 hour cancellation notification and moves scheduled to occur between the 28th and 4th of the next month require a 48 hour cancellation notification. Any scheduled move that is cancelled outside of the respective time periods will be subject to a late cancellation fee of $69.95.
