Do I Need to Be Present When Movers Arrive? | 5 Star Moving FAQ

Yes, we recommend that you be present at the origin location when our movers arrive. Being there allows you to review important details and ensures your move goes smoothly.

What Happens When Movers Arrive?

When our professional moving team arrives, they will:

  • Review the service order with you
  • Discuss any items requiring special care or handling
  • Answer any questions you may have about the moving process
  • Confirm all details before work begins

Before the move starts, you will be asked to sign the service order, indicating your agreement with the terms and services provided.

Why Is Your Presence Important?

  • Ensures accuracy of your moving inventory
  • Helps prevent delays or misunderstandings
  • Allows you to provide special instructions directly to movers

If I selected the quoted bid plan, can items be added or removed prior to starting the move?

If you have selected the quoted bid plan, the moving associates will match items on the service order with the items actually being moved. If items are either added or removed from the service order, the price of the move will be adjusted once the move is completed. Please note that additional items will only be added if time permits.

Can anything be moved?

Plants, pets, money, jewelry, guns, ammunition, flammable materials, corrosive materials, and items of unusual value will not be moved.

Items of unusual value are items that are worth more than $100 per pound such as fine china or jewelry. 5 Star Moving, Inc. is not financially responsible for items of unusual value if they were left in dressers, drawers, etc. and were lost during the move.

Is there a fee if I cancel or reschedule my move?

Any move canceled/rescheduled within 48 hours of the scheduled start time will be charged a late cancelation/reschedule fee.

The fee amount will be equal to 4 hours of services plus any applicable travel charges for moves using the hourly rate and 50% of the quoted amount for moves using the quoted bid option.

This fee is non refundable and cannot be used as a credit for any future services.

If your move required a deposit, the entire deposit amount is non refundable.

What happens if an item is damaged during the move?

5 Star Moving, Inc. provides a maximum liability on your shipment of $0.60 per pound per article, not to exceed $100 per article.

5 Star Moving, Inc. also provides coverage of up to $20,000.00 while your items are in transit; there is no charge for either coverage. Keep in mind; we do not offer replacement coverage on your items. We recommend contacting your insurance agent to see if moving damages are covered in your policy.

Please also note that 5 Star Moving, Inc. is not responsible for items packed and boxed by the customer and is not responsible for appliances, electronics, or other mechanical devices that are not proven to be in working condition prior to being moved.

If any fragile items are to be moved, please mark the boxes clearly and bring any such items to the attention of the moving associates.

At the destination, we recommend that you check each item as it is moved. If any damage is noticed, please bring it to the attention of one of the moving associates so that a damage claim may be completed.
